Wine 101: Come to the Show, Merlot is a Go!

The grape varietal Merlot received a severe blow to its place in the wine world when in 2004 the movie “Sideways” whose main character discredited it by giving Pinot Noir the praise and attributes befitting a Queen. That being said, Merlot is a wine that is more than a box in that it has more than 6 sides to it… From its noble beginning in Bordeaux, this grape varietal is planted around the world and offers great value, complexity, and earlier accessibility than say Cabernet Sauvignon depending on where it is grown. 

May is a great month to get outdoors and start doing some Grilling & Chilling and we will taste some affordable Merlot’s that will fit the bill for this Memorial Day celebrations and beyond.

This Wine 101 class will be held at the School Wednesday March 29th, 2023  6:30 – 8:00 PM 

The Charm City Wine School is now offering Wine 101 Classes that spans the vino globe. These fun & informative classes feature 3 to 4 wines featuring New World and Old-World Wines. Classes are $30 per person and you will enjoy & experience wines from the most important wine regions.  Each class is 1½ hour in duration and light hors d’oeuvres are served along with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to get things started.
