Level 2 Award in Wines Qualification Aims

WSET’s Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.

This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

What You Will Learn
   How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)
   How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking, and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines
   made from eight principal grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,
   Pinot Noir, Syrah
   Sparkling & Fortified Wines
   The style and quality of wines
   How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of: 
   Key labeling terms used to indicate origin, style, and quality
   Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of a wine
   Principles of food and wine pairing

The TQT for the Level 2 Award in Wines is 28 hours. This is made up of 17 GLH (of which 1 hour is for the examination) and 11 hours’ private study. Candidates that successfully pass this challenging exam can proudly use the post-nominal WSET Level 2 Wine Certified in their email signatures and be recognized as wine professionals in the wine industry.

This is usually a 6-day course that culminates in a 1-hour exam. In January, we are offering an accelerated 3-day class format over two consecutive weekends. 

WSET L2 Award in Wine Class Accelerated Schedule starting Saturday, January 17th, then Sunday, January 18th, 2026
from 9 AM to 5 PM
 And the following weekend on Saturday the 24th from 9 AM – 11 AM &
   Final Exam following a review on Saturday the 24th

WSET L2 Award in Wine Class Schedule starting Wednesday, February 11th, 2026
  And following classes on Wednesdays the 18th, 25th, and March 4th, 11th, & 18th
  All Times: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
   Final Exam following a review Wednesday the 18th

WSET L2 Award in Wine Class Schedule starting Wednesday, April 1st, 2026
  And following classes on Wednesdays April 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, and May 6th
   All Times: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
   Final Exam following a review Wednesday May 6th

WSET L2 Award in Wine Class Schedule starting Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026
  And following classes on Wednesdays the 10th, 17th, 24th, and July 8th & 15th ** No class on July 1st **
  All Times: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
   Final Exam following a review Wednesday July 15th
